In search of answers about the classification of affiliate niches, we turned to an expert in measures, weights, structured tables and neatly arranged things for advice. This, let’s face it, boring man, told us more about niches than we wanted to know.
In the room where we conducted the interview, everything was arranged in a seven-sided manner, a chair and another chair opposite it. That’s all the decor. “This room, classified by me, is a meeting room, and as you can see, it fully corresponds to this name, and is also kept in perfect order. You may not understand how important it is to resist chaos, they say the whole universe is constantly striving for it. But not here, not in this place.”
“So, in affiliate marketing, niches used to be called “verticals,” and there were a few of them: finance, gambling, travel, e-commerce. But then things started to get complicated, and the simple and somehow beautiful in this simplicity classification began to get complicated. “Verticals” stopped being called that and instead they became “niches.” Do you feel the linguistic difference? There were slender verticals, and now there are shady narrow niches. But this didn’t last long, and this clumsy classification system began to grow like mold, turning into multiplying sub niches and microniches.”
“And what do we end up dealing with? A sub-niche of river fish floats, a micro-niche of fishing gear, an outdoor hobby niche? There is no order, no beauty in this. And this leads us to complete atomization, when each individual product will be its own micro-niche, consisting of itself. And then further disintegration into a niche of left sneakers and right sneakers? No! It’s time to stop this. Let’s return to natural simplicity and symmetry. For example, a niche of physical goods and a niche of virtual goods. Just two of these are enough.”
“Why, you ask me? Because there is no need to divide niches into trendy and evergreen. There is such a service – Google Trends, and it is more than enough, it does not classify anyone anywhere, it just shows what is in demand now. And this brings us to the main idea, and I swear, you do not expect to hear it from me. The niche does not matter at all. That’s right. You can divide affiliate niches even by the colors of the products, and all the software will send you to the colorless niche, as you like, it does not make any sense except for your convenience. But what really matters is your interests, the type of your traffic and how good the offer is.”
“While you sit here in mute amazement, I will leave you with this list of offers. At first glance, they have nothing in common, do not try to find an extra one or group them by any features. But they do have something in common, and these are not niches, not verticals, and not even the color of the goods and services provided. These are simply good offers on which you can earn good money. Use them wisely.”
Having come to our senses a little after such an unexpected conversation, we notice that the chairs are not so evenly opposite each other, and in general the chairs are of different heights. With trepidation, we take the piece of paper left by the paradoxical specialist and on it is written:
