Ocean of Storms

1 Min Read

In May, we study the lunar seas. They were first mentioned in 1652 by the Italian astronomer Giovanni Riccioli, and he really thought they were made of water. But when earthlings figured out the mistake, they didn’t stop calling the lunar seas – seas. What’s more, they added bays, lakes, and swamps. And one more ocean. The Ocean of Storms, like all the other bodies of water on the Moon, is filled with solidified basalt lava. Sorry, we’ll have to take off our bathing suits.
