Of course, nothing but a strange Dutch surname and the fact that he is an artist does not unite Vermeer with the Northern Renaissance, he is attributed to the art of the Dutch Golden Age. The fact is that most of his paintings were painted in the same room, and there is a theory that the almost photorealistic details of his canvases are some kind of trick created with the help of mirrors and clever lenses. In fact, when working on portraits, Vermeer smeared his models with paint and pressed them to the canvas until he achieved a realistic image.
