In August we talk about comets. Today is Caesar’s Comet.

 

It appeared in July 44 BC, shortly after Caesar’s assassination. Its appearance was interpreted as Caesar’s deification. The comet appeared on coins, was immortalized in Ovid’s poems, and yet there are modern scientists who doubt whether the comet existed at all. It’s good that the comet doesn’t hear them. Or Julius Caesar.
