In August we talk about comets. Today is Tsuchinshan–ATLAS Comet.


This large comet was visible to the naked eye in October 2024. The thing is, it has a weakly hyperbolic orbit, and after flying by last year, it will most likely leave the solar system forever and we will never see it again. Well, okay, we didn’t see it last year either. But this August column is also ending, and maybe we won’t see it again.
