In February we talk about clouds. Today – Mammatus clouds.
Mammatus clouds (from the Latin word “mamma” meaning “udder”) are not a distinct cloud species, but rather a rare feature, according to a complex scientific cloud classification system. Their appearance is attributed to a host of physical causes, but in general, they often serve as harbingers of a storm, and pilots are advised to avoid them.
