Over the past six months, we’ve been exploring mountains, currents, clouds, snow, and wind. And all for this moment—a selection of our best travel offers! From the Moon, we have an excellent view of Earth, so we have every right to advise you, Earthlings, on what to see on your home planet. And even if that’s not the case, our offers are certainly excellent.
- Penitentes
Penitentes, or “penitential snows” in Spanish, are snow formations found at high altitudes. They are elongated, thin sheets of hardened snow or ice, located close to each other and facing the sun. The name comes from the resemblance of a penitente field to a crowd of people kneeling and performing penitential acts. If you’re too lazy to climb high into the mountains, here’s our offer: Cheapflightsfares (US) – American travel agency – $6,15
- Mount Jin
This is our favorite natural attraction. Mount Jin in China’s Shandong Province is considered the smallest mountain in the world. It’s 0.6 meters high, 1.24 meters long, and 0.7 meters wide. Climbing it doesn’t take long. It’s worth noting that there’s no universal definition of “mountain” worldwide, and Chinese geologists consider Mount Jin a mountain because only its peak is visible to us, while the mountain itself extends deep into the earth, and digging to its base hasn’t yet been successful. If size does matter to you, here’s our huge offer: Easirent (WW) – airport based car rental – 5.3%
- Mammatus Clouds
You don’t need to travel here; you can see these clouds almost anywhere, if you’re lucky. Or unlucky. Mammatus clouds (from the Latin word “mamma” meaning “udder”) are not a distinct cloud species, but rather a rare feature, according to a complex scientific cloud classification system. Their appearance is attributed to a host of physical causes, but in general, they often serve as storm harbingers, and pilots are advised to avoid them. However, pilots are not advised to avoid our offer, and neither are you: Oman Air (WW) – airline of the Sultanate of Oman – 1.15%
- Ibe
It seems strange to regard a specific wind as a landmark, but it’s only apparent. The Ibe is a Dzungarian wind that blows during the cold season through the Dzungarian Gate from Lake Ebi-Nur in China toward Lake Alakol in Kazakhstan. The wind is hurricane-force, gusty, and warm. Its maximum speed in winter and spring reaches 60–80 m/s, during which time the wind carries a lot of dust, sand, and sometimes even small stones. According to the oral traditions of the natives, it carries away even camels and anything else that can be carried away. And our new offer can take your profits way up: Insight Vacations (US,CA,AU,UK) – business-class tours booking – 3.8%
- Maelstrom
You can also look at the currents. Moskström, or Maelstrom, is a system of tidal currents and whirlpools, one of the most powerful in the world, which forms off the Lofoten archipelago between the Norwegian Sea and the Vestfjords. Moskström was described in the 13th century in the Old Norse poem Edda. Edgar Allan Poe, Jules Verne, and Melville wrote about it. The Swedish bishop Olaf Magnus attributed the whirlpool to divine powers and mentioned it as much stronger than the previously known Sicilian whirlpool Charybdis. However, it is unknown whether Olaf personally swam in both whirlpools or was speaking from hearsay. We are only confident in our offer: Go With Guide (US) – expert tour guides – 7.69%
