Andrea Sansovino

1 Min Read

In July we talk about Italian Renaissance sculptors. Today we will talk about Andrea Sansovino.

Unlike most of the heroes of this column, the sculptor Andrea Sansovino was not a murderer, a troublemaker or an adventurer. He was just a sculptor, oddly enough. He was an ordinary peasant child who made toys out of clay, when someone important noticed his talent. An inspiring story, from horses made of mud to decorating altars commissioned by the Pope.
