A Streetcar Named Desire is a drama film adapted from Tennessee Williams’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. The famous film adaptation starring Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando is considered Southern Gothic. Well, it does take place in the South. Otherwise, it’s a psychological drama, and there’s little Gothic about it. And here we come to the realization that “Gothic” in Southern Gothic generally refers to everything bad and dark.
