Everyone loves to make predictions, but no one wants to admit they’re wrong. Last December, our in-house astrologer (who, for some reason, considers himself an astronomer) predicted trends for 2025. It’s time to find out where he was right and where he was wrong.
We won’t go to our astrologer (who considers himself an astronomer) to summarize. Firstly, his predictions are sufficient for today’s summary. Secondly, we’ll go to him for new predictions for 2026 next week, and there’s no need to anger him further.
So, the flow is very simple: we take his prediction from last year and see if it came true.
- Subscription and recurring subscription offers.
The first 2025 trend prediction about subscription offers has almost come true. It’s not that they’ve defined the affiliate landscape for the past year, but they haven’t gone away either. Here’s last year’s article on this topic, and as proof, it’s absolutely relevant. So, we can give our astrologer a thumbs-up for this prediction. But only a small one.
- A snake biting its own tail
The second prediction was more vague, as predictions tend to be. It was about digital content sold in the digital world. Well, that happened in 2025, as well as the year before and before that. Will this become a trend in 2025? Unlikely. But did it happen? Yes, it did. Another small plus for our astrologer.
- Dynamic commission structures
Our astrologer also predicted flexible commission models based on results, customer lifetime value, or achievement level. Well, he clearly didn’t get the thumbs up here. Aside from the usual and regular commission increases, nothing revolutionary has happened in this area. It’s a mistake.
- Improved tracking and attribution for affiliate programs
The fourth prediction is essentially a continuation of the previous one. And here, too, there were no major changes. “Improved tracking tools should help affiliates more accurately attribute conversions, ensuring fair payouts and a deeper understanding of effective strategies,” that’s what he said. It didn’t get any worse, but it certainly didn’t come true. And you know what? For that, we’ll take away that small plus for the first point.
- Voice Search Optimization
And finally, this unwitting charlatan predicted an improvement in voice search in 2025. That definitely didn’t come true. Voice search remains the same. Let’s remove the second little plus sign. So what’s the result? We’re left with the same old story.
Apparently, our astrologer (who considers himself an astronomer, that’s what he made us say) has become more cunning in his neutral predictions. Well, we’ll test his abilities in a week, because he’ll once again have to predict trends for 2026.
