In December we talk about snow classifications. Today – Yukimarimo.

 

Yukimarimo are balls of fine frost that form in low temperatures on the Antarctic Plateau under light wind conditions. “Yuki” means snow in Japanese, and “marimo” refers to the spherical growth of algae that yukimarimo resemble.
