Five great offers

3 Min Read

Our weekly roundup always features five offers. Why? What is it about that number? We decided to find out—and show you five great offers while we were at it.

  1. The Big Five

It is curious that the term “Big Five” is used to refer to any five random things from any sector. We haven’t discovered the reason for this; perhaps it just has a nice ring to it. Judge for yourself: “Big Fives” exist in Argentine football, German politics, the Canadian banking system, and a hundred other completely unexpected fields. There are no “Little Fives” anywhere.

  1. The Turkish Five

Here’s an example: the “Turkish Five.” You could rack your brains, but you’d hardly guess that this refers to Turkish composers from the mid-20th century. Unexpected, right? Just in case, here are their names: Ahmed Adnan Saygun, Ulvi Cemal Erkin, Cemal Reşit Rey, Hasan Ferit Alnar, and Necil Kazım Akses.

  1. Five

Let’s continue expanding your understanding of the different forms the number five can take. This time, *5* is a Japanese adult visual novel. It was released in 2008. The developers described *5* as a “dramatic adventure” and a “noisy northern province love comedy”—whatever that means. The game wasn’t particularly popular; not all “fives” are created equal.

High-five with our offer Jackery (US) – solar generators – 3.8%

  1. Tom Five

Music again, strangely enough. Tom Five is an American guitarist who joined the heavy metal band White Zombie. He was nicknamed “Five”—reportedly because his style “sounded like five guitarists playing at once.” We assume he gave himself that name. His real name is Thomas Neil Guay.

High-five with our offer 360 Total Security (WW) – Windows PC security – 53%

  1. Five

Believe it or not, the fifth entry in our roundup is Five—a boy band from the UK. Music again—even though we hadn’t planned a music-themed list. There isn’t much to say about them; the Spice Girls’ producers simply did it all over again, only this time with the opposite gender. You do realize that the offers are the main thing here, right?
