In November we talk about the star map of the northern hemisphere. Today – Ursa Major.
Ursa Major is perhaps the most well-known constellation in the Northern Hemisphere. It has been referred to by various names, including the Yoke, the Plow, the Elk, the Wagon, the Seven Sages, the Seven Bandits, the Seven Brothers, and the Seven Sisters. It is believed that about one hundred thousand years ago, the stars of this constellation formed a shape in the sky that truly resembled the outline of a bear—quite unlike what we see today.
